Organization Description:
Through participatory public art, Mural Arts Philadelphia inspires change in people, place, and practice, creating opportunity for a more just and equitable Philadelphia. Mural Arts is a public/private partnership focused on creating impact within the following five arenas: youth development, criminal justice reform, wellness, environmental sustainability, and civil discourse. They utilize art education and socially-engaged public art-making as a means for skill development, self-discovery, storytelling, advocacy, and community-building. They connect participants to services, resources, and work opportunities through a city-wide network of organizations and relationships. Mural Arts engages more than 33,000 people through events and programming, 13,000 people on tours of their collections, and more than 130,000 via social media platforms.
